About Me – Shuai (Yukie)

At the end of 2021, I had no home.
But on that New Year’s Eve, I met Maiko Miura at the “Gospel Red & White Singing Festival” held at Global Mission Chapel in Iwaki, Fukushima.
Through that encounter, she introduced me to a Christian landlord, and by God’s perfect timing, I was able to move into the apartment right next door to Maiko’s.
That became the starting point of my journey into music ministry.
May 2022
One day, I heard shocking news — a brother from Friends Church International (note: not affiliated with Evangelical Friends Church International) was killed for sharing the love of Christ in another country.
It broke my heart deeply.
As I prayed for his family, who lost a beloved husband and father, and reflected on his desire to share hope and God’s love, I sat at the piano and began to play.
The melody that came forth became “Pacifique,” the opening song of my album “You.”
(The title is his name.)

With Maiko’s advice and encouragement, I was able to write lyrics and melody together for the first time — the song “Sowing Seed .”
It was truly a gift from God — a song that encouraged me, who had been weary and wandering during that New Year’s Eve journey.
The Word of God and its melody renewed my heart and gave me hope once again.
July 2022
I decided on my artist name: Shuai (主愛) — which means “God is love.”
Since my real name “Yukie” is written with rare and difficult kanji that people often misread, I chose this name simply because it’s easier to remember and call me by.
I made my debut at the “Hello Jesus Festival” gospel live event, thanks to an invitation from Maiko Miura.
January 2025
Maiko Miura was led to begin her own ministry activities under the same name, “Shuai.”
From then on, we started performing together as Shuai, while I continue my solo work under the name “Yukie.”
May 2025
As Shuai, we traveled to Thailand and had the opportunity to record and film worship songs at the ZOE Thailand campus.
(ZOE is an organization that rescues and supports children who have been victims of human trafficking. Please see another blog post for more details.)
Together with a wonderful team, we produced eight music videos, and the first one has already been released on The Good News Channel.

Autumn 2025
The release of my first solo album.
I never imagined I would create a CD, but God led me into this project through the support of a former homeless man. I hope to share that story someday.
This album is like a diary of my journey so far — filled with heartfelt memories and reflections.
I would be truly happy if you could listen to it.
Everything is a blessing from God.
There is meaning in every moment of life — and I am deeply grateful.
To everyone who has supported me along the way — thank you from the bottom of my heart.
And to those who are meeting me for the first time — I’m so happy to connect with you.
